2017-10-23 The Academy Dublin

Our second visit to that very climatic venue that suits BRMC perfectly...dark, black, small...could even dare to say...intimate, perfectly reflecting the band vibe.

And to start, what a support !

The crazy US duo Restavrant came with the bang !

Energetic, with hand made parts of drum set they really got the crowd moving with their Texas style mix of country music and rock also throwing a bit of Primus style to it.

Exceeded my expectation and made a way for the rest of the night...

As our Rebels crew were setting the stage, i was wondering which way the new songs gonna go from upcoming "Wrong Creatures" LP and we had a good taste of what we can expect with January release.

Need to go through the album few times probably to make a final judgement but could say that there is a mix in there.

My long history with BRMC music got me to the point where i would like to hear and see few brave punches and twists over there to bring something fresh to the band portfolio.

At certain point there came the time for some good old songs that we all love to bring the memories and feelings back. We also need to mention the solo performance to bring the venue to a different level.

Waiting patiently for January 12th 2018 for the next chapter....

NEW ALBUM “WRONG CREATURES” AND US TOUR!

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club announce their new forthcoming album Wrong Creatures, and release the first single “Little Thing Gone Wild” – PRESS HERE to listen to the track.
Produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Arcade Fire) and recorded at Sunset Sound. Wrong Creatures is available today for pre-sale in all digital music stores and directly through the band’s online store.
The new single “Little Thing Gone Wild” is available for purchase as an individual track and everyone who pre-orders the album will receive the song immediately. In addition to the CD & Digital album version, a limited edition vinyl deluxe boxset will also become available in the coming weeks for pre-order on the official website.
Recorded in Los Angeles over the past few years, the bands taken many unlikely twists and turns, yet always remaining focused on the music and returning again to edge of the stage. “It’s a crazy making machine, it can chew you up as fast as it spits you out. A few years back we literally toured till the wheels came off and Leah’s brain literally started leaking out of her head” say’s Been. “It catches up with you, i know i’ve battled on and off with my own depression, and Pete’s head never came with any proper instructions. So you just gotta keep pushing buttons to see what happens.”
Wrong Creatures returns to the core of BRMC’s alchemy, yet plunges the knife in even further. From the Cave-esque murder balladry of “Haunt” to the garage punk of “Little Thing Gone Wild,” it runs the gamut allowing the band to flex every muscle in their armor. They remain opaque about the songs’ greater meanings, fearful of past misunderstandings. “I find myself writing about death a lot,” says Hayes. “I find myself having a discussion with death, which sounds dark. For me, it’s dark humor.” Talking about mortality allows Hayes to explore life’s great mistakes and regrets. Channeling them through rolling riffs and dirge-laden rhythms that stir the pot before reaching boiling point.
Ultimately, the band may well be survivors of an era where rock’n’roll can often be overshadowed by dance pop, and garish commercialism. Robert Levon Been; “We are truly an island – come hell or high water, so it’s usually best to dress accordingly. Though i’m not sure what the proper attire is when drowning in fire. But leather usually goes with everything.”
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club also announced their North American tour which will be kicking off on January 15, 2018 with dates in Washington DC, Boston, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and more. META interview

 | Words by Maggie Gulasey

TWICE IN MY SHORT LIFE I HAVE FOUND MYSELF IMMERSED IN THE POTENT BUTTERFLIES OF LOVE, DOUSED WITH NERVOUSNESS, EXCITEMENT, AND A FLECK OF FEAR—BUT NOT FOR ANOTHER PERSON. RATHER, IT’S BEEN FOR THE EXTRAORDINARY AND PROFOUNDLY AUTHENTIC PASSIONS IN LIFE THAT HAVE ILLUMINATED MY SIMPLE EXISTENCE.

My first love affair came to fruition when I encountered live music at a young age. Some astute individuals sang, “When you fall in love, you know you are done.” Though lacking the talent for mastering an instrument, I eagerly devoured the music, and I indeed knew I was done; music was forever going to be a part of my lifeblood, even if that meant supporting the melodic experts from the business or the avid-fan side of things.
The second time my heart was kidnapped occurred the moment I first rode a motorcycle. Nothing can match how those two wheels make me feel. I truly came alive with the world at my side, experiencing life in a unique and more gratifying way aboard my beautiful vintage two-stroke.
Both music and my motorcycle enable a mental departure from the tedious rigors that often swallow daily life, allowing me to recall and enjoy the simple magic this world grants. Once in a blue moon my two lovers delightfully harmonize, creating a motorcycle and rock ‘n’ roll utopia. I have found this elusive nirvana in the band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club...
